Toyota Trueno

The Trueno has been finished for a couple of weeks now but I've procrastinated on taking pictures until today, which just happens to be 8-6 Day.

Along side her sister, the Auto-X Levin.

Re: Toyota Trueno

Nice! I remember a friend of mine used to have one of these - they were fast for the times. Very nice build.

Re: Toyota Trueno

Cool!
Reminds me of my brother's 85 Corolla GTS. Silver with black accents. Gray interior. BBS wheels on low profile Yokos. Stolen from in front of his girlfiend's house in the San Fernando Valley and found a couple days later in Compton. Stripped and burned.

I like these 2 models. Nice builds.

A couple of notes on the 1:1 cars for reference:
- My brother's AE86 was silver primary body color. When I did work under the car, the entire underbody and interior of the shell was painted silver same as the top surfaces. The bottom of the gas tank was galvanized. The bottom of the red model here is semi flat black, as if it were undercoated for rust protection. Then it has an overspray of the body color on the belly. This is how a Mopar of the 1960s and 70s would have been factory painted. The engine compartment shows the red as well as the upper surfaces lending the suggestion that the car had been fairly thouroughly re-painted by a body shop. Not unrealistic at all. In fact, I see that scenario as highly realistic and thus applaud the effect.

- I note the spindles and the rear lower links and sway bar are bright blue. Is this due to the photos having been taken while the model was not quite complete? Or is this intentional as if to suggest aftermarket parts on the car?

And which AE86 kit is this from?

Both kits are from Aoshima, I've got six different versions so they're both kitbashed.

The suspension is painted like Megan Racing parts with Tokico TRD red shocks.
