Wiring a LED Beacon Light Bar

I have the snow plow prep package on my 2003 Silverado, and I have the beacon light switch on the dash. I have already fished the wires above the headliner to the third tail light. Has anyone wired an LED mini light bar to this switch? I want to make sure that the light actually work with the switch before I buy one (since they tend to flash in different patterns). If not, I'll just buy the normal rotating beacon light.
