WIP: Silvia S14 Drift Missile

So I'm starting this build with a S14 FUJIMI Kit. It doesn't have an engine with the kit so I will be buying an engine to build and place in it (I'm thinking of putting an SR20, RB26 or a 2JZ in it).

Here are the wheels I have a choice of at the moment. From left to right, Stock wheels, Pagani Zonda wheels, and some BBS wheels.

Here is the little ridge on the BBS wheels that will need to be cut off.

Here is the MASSIVE ridge that needs to be cut off on the Zonda wheels.

I'm not sure which of these wheels I will use but for either one they will be painted bronze, I think. The next order I place will be for some TE37's or TE37v's. This means that these wheels wont be staying for the whole build. I will be posting more updates soon.

I got rid of the ridges on the BBS wheels and they now fit in the stock tyres that came with the kit.

Re: WIP: Silvia S14 Drift Missile

Well, long time no post and I have to say I got a lot done!

So I painted the wheels a nice bronze. I wish they came out lighter but oh well, it doesn't matter because they will be replaced later on.

and a quick mock up...

Next, I created a roll cage. This was my first scratch-built thing I've ever made so it didn't turn out too great.

Painted it to match the body...

But then, here is the problem.

Now that looked terrible through the rear windscreen and I felt like I really needed to come up with a new way to do it.

What I decided on doing was making the interior look stripped out so that I could get this to look better and feel more like a drift car. I cut the back seats out and sanded the piece above them down and drilled some holes in it to make it seem like the speakers and carpet were removed.

Then I started to build the new roll cage.

I still haven't painted it but oh well, it looks a lot better through the rear windscreen.

My new wheels showed up today! Volk TE37v's from Eightone81.

Painted them up!

And here is a look at the chassis so far. Nice blue accents I think.

More updates to come soon!

I liked the bronze wheels, but the TE37s are great too. I love the direction this is going. Keep it up!
