Catalytic convertor

I have a 2001 sl2 that runs great at idle but has no power driving it. I took the 02 sensor out of the exh manifold and took it for a drive and it ran like a champ. I just need a second opinion on the cat conv or both being clogged. Anyone tried this before? Thanks.

Yes, what you did is a quick way to diagnose a clogged catalytic converter. I agree that it is most likely bad.

Re: Catalytic convertor

Here is what I have, it idles great but hesitates a bit when throttle is hit. It lacks power when driving but when the throttle is pushed to the floor it seems to pick up pretty good, it's the in between that has the issues. Could the coil pack be going or is already bad? Would this cause these symptoms?
