Vehicle Electrical System related Questions

Hi, I'm currently studying on vehicle's electrical system, focusing on alternator. The target is the reduce the power loss of engine by converting steering, compressor and water pump into electrical component. The crankshaft pulley will be connected through belt with alternator pulley only after conversion. I would like to analyse the input requirement of converted components togther with total electrical components input and as well as alternator output.

I need help in few cases as below;

Case 1) Can anyone give other suggestion to reduce power loss of engine, in any form of modification ?
Case 2) How to increase alternator output ? (I've found out of using smaller pulleys and thicker coil winding)
Case 3) Is it possible to make electromagnetic clutch pulley for alternator. (which acts whenever power supply required, for example when turning, eletrical steering requires power supply)
Case 4) I've listed components that require continuos and non-continuos power supply below. I'm not sure whether the list is correct or not. Please correct me and add components I've missed out, thanks.

According to case 3, there are certain components requires continuos power supply. Refer the list below;

a) Require continuos power supply;
- ecu
- auto transmission
- dashboard signal and warning lights
- fuel pump
- injector
- ignition coils
- crank sensor
- lambda sensor
- air clog sensor

b) Required non-continuos power supply;
- air cond
- media accesories
- front and rear, head light, fog light and signal light
- starter motor
- electric power steering (conversion)
- electric water pummp (conversion)
- electric compressor (conversion)
- ciper
- horn
- power window
- central locking

Re: Vehicle Electrical System related Questions

I remember reading that some late-model Saturn products were using an alternator that was switched on and off by the ecm. Might be worth a look.

Re: Vehicle Electrical System related Questions

Removing the AC is an easy way to increase power. Study of relays will help you to kill all the electronics not needed with one switch. If your battery is fully charged, your car will run without the alternator for a while. Hope this was helpful.
