Expert Advice Needed :)

Hi Everyone,

I've never built a diecast model before however I am absolutely mad about cars so I figured this is going to be a great little hobby. Problem I have is I've no idea about kits, availability or models.

The key things for me are building these kits, having access to a wide range if European models, especially high performance and supercars. Ideally I don't want to spend much more than £20 per kit - can anyone advise? I would love to have access to some of my dream models both old and new. Thanks ever so much for your help in advance and u shall look forward to hearing your thoughts! Also lastly I would like the cars not to be on those plaques and preferably not really big models either. Thanks!

Being able to buy these from the UK also would be a plus as I think this is an American forum if I'm right?

Do they have to be diecast or are you fine with plastic? Will you paint them yourself or do you want pre-painted kits?

I personally find plastic kits have better detail and there are definitely more choices in subject matters.

I don't mind really however I would really like to be able to get hold of new and classic models, and very specific models such as the porsche gt2 for example. Maybe I will give both a go, pre-painted and non-painted. Again don't mind really if they are plastic or metal just something with thousands of models if possible?

Some options and advice would be great, and I'm really lost with what size to go with too. I don't want to have to spend a fortune on each model, but I still want them to be nice enough to collect

I'd probably start with something from Tamiya in 1/24. A lot of them are priced between £20-30, have good detail and are engineered for ease of assembly.

Welcome aboard.

To answer the question, this is a multi-national forum.

As far as being able to buy from the UK, there are several online retailers based in the UK which are fantastic, as well as some on the mainland which will ship to the UK.

The choice in plastic kits is expansive, you should be able to find what you're looking for from one of the major manufacturers if you're willing to spend some time painting and making it look good.
