Exhaust wall thickness

Hey there,

I'm just about to do some research on lightweight exhausts and I'm looking to see what wall thicknesses are currently used for standard exhausts.

it would be really helpful if people could tell me their car model and the wall thickness of exhaust if known??

thanks alot
Mike

Pattaya?
Been there 3 times now. Nong Nooch twice. Rode an elephant!

Primary pipe wall thickness for a custom exhaust manifold for my turbocharged Lotus Esprit is about 1.5mm (.060")
Material is 321 stainless steel.

You should be aware some exhausts are double-walled, for better noise control, especially from the manifolds to the converter.

Both my Chevy van and BMW had this.

It definitely decreases noise, but increases weight.

Re: Exhaust wall thickness

Lightweight exhaust systems are made from Grade 5 titanium tube about 1.5mm thick.
