3sgte into an '85
does anyone know if it's possible to do/ if it's been done / how difficult it would be ?

It is defintely possible, and I know that it has been done.

Doable but very difficult.
I beliece it reequires some tricky work to get the Turbo to fit, as the 3sgte sits lightly slanted, and so takes up a lot more width than the 4agze. You would also need to do a lot of rewiring, as they both run differnt ECUs, with differnt genrations of OBD. I think that unless you really keen on building a full race car, and had the time money and enginering skills, that it would be easier to simply buy a MK2, or stick with building the 4agze.

It is very easy. There about 12 or so completed. Visit the MR2 Message Board for complete instructions on how to make your own MK1.5 MR2

buuut... isn't the 3s-gte heavier... and wouldnt that throw off the balance people like the MKi for?

Yes and no. I drove Deno Plumleys MK1.5 and it is very well ballenced and kicks ass. The only thing that makes this car scary is the power.
Now his car is 100% sorted. If joe blow 16 year old was to try this, I bet it would not be a good match. Deno has the know how and expertise to set a car up. So that has so much to do with how the car works.
