'95 Accord with the V-6, automatic.
Developed s strange oil leak that appears to be coming from between the block and the plate that the oil filter attaches to. Not leaking from sending unit or filter, leak is on other side of the plate. Preliminary inspection leads me to believe that I'll have to take the drive belt side of the engine apart to fix properly. No fun, there. Wondering if I can't JB weld it. Has anyone here experienced this problem? |

Never had that happpen here. Tearing it apart this weekend hoping for a bad seal. I'll keep nobody posted.

I was one of those that looked. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with that engine. Though this is my main forum, I'd suggest hondaaccordforum.com
It has a lot more people that specifically work on accords. |

I can say that JB Weld would be a bad idea. The stuff just doesn't hold up to a very high heat range. It'll likely melt or even worse, catch fire. If it is in fact a crack in the block, or a part that attaches to the block, the only real action would be to clean it thoroughly and then have it welded. An Accord specific forum would almost definitely provide a much quicker answer. Unfortunately the Honda/Acura part of this forum has become a ghost time over the years, where it use to be the busiest part of AF. |

The manual says this is the hardest bolt to remove on the car and they aint just a whistlin' dixie. I wrench on semi's for a living and my best efforts, without a torch, were to no avail. Last installment on my oil leak saga.
Problem turned out to be in between the oil filter base and engine block. Honda has a small gasket that looks like the number 8, this gasket or seal had hardened and caused the leak. As this is a dealer only item and I had it ripped apart on Sunday, I cleaned the area with lacquer thinner and applied a thick bead of blue permatex gasket maker to the groove where Honda's seal went. Slapped it all together and let it sit till the next evening, fired her up and all appears good. Leak fixed. Thanx for watchin'. |
