Ignition Switch! Help!?

Just got done installing the ignition switch on my 02 Malibu. Car starts up and runs fine, the only problem is that when I take the key out of the ignition. The car still thinks its in and continues to beep. I Checked and made sure that everything else in the car was off, and it still continues to beep and won't let me lock the car when i open the door because it believes the key is still in the ignition. I double checked and made sure all the wires were plugged in properly and still have the same issue. What is going on?

The new switch must be faulty.

Replaced both the ignition switch and the lock cylinder last night, did some troubleshooting and realized the new lock-cylinder was bad. The chip was bad and setting off the alarm. Went and got it warrantied got another one and the new lock cylinder worked great. Gotta love technology.

Re: Ignition Switch! Help!?

Correct terminology?

The lock cylinder slides into the PassLock sensor/module....together as a unit they slide into the ignition switch.....I assume it was the PassLock sensor/module that was replaced, not the ignition switch?
