Unhappy '06 LS Driver Window Regulator Replacement

2006 LS V8:
Looks like the driver's side window regulator broke this morning. On the way up, it made a couple of "crackling" noises and stopped. Window goes down but not up. I hear a slight hum of the motor when pushing the up button.
Looking at replacement parts, some offer with motor and some without. Any suggestions?
Should I use Motorcraft or are there equal after market manufacturers?

It will be my weekend project.
Thanks!

Note: there is a youtube video showing the procedure for a 2000 LS Passenger Side. I assume the procedure for mine is similar.

Re: '06 LS Driver Window Regulator Replacement

The window regulators are pretty easy to replace on the LS. The most difficult part is getting the door panel off. And, yes, there isn't much difference between the passenger or driver's door, or from one model year to another.

As for what type to go with, I've actually found that some of the aftermarket units are less expensive than the OEM and use more metal parts than OEM. I would not hesitate to use an aftermarket regulator from a reputable brand. You most likely would be fine to reuse your motor too.
