Anyone familiar with removing canister purge valve 99 Taurus?

I'm looking at this part, passenger side firewall, looks tough to get free from top, anyone know if easier thru the wheelwell? Haven't attempted it yet, but will need to. Service manual I have isn't clear as to access, just removing connector, hoses and nuts. Thanks

Re: Anyone familiar with removing canister purge valve 99 Taurus?

You're right, the service manual doesn't provide much detail. And I've not had to remove one of these to know if it's easier, or maybe even necessary, to remove the inner fender liner. But, I have removed several inner fender liners (although no specifically on a '99) and they generally are not bad to remove or replace. If it appears that will make the job easier, and you have a way to raise and safely support your car, I'd suggest just getting the liner out of the way.
