How can I clean the dirt and stains from the carpets?

Does anyone have a good way to clean the carpets on VUEs? We have two, 2006 VUEs. If I can get it clean once, I'll Scotch Guard everything, but I need to get it clean first. Is there any hope other than new carpets?

PS: In the past, I've only had Mustang GTs. With those, I couldn't stain the carpets with black carpet dye, and I couldn't change the color of the seats with black upholstery dye. It would vacuum off the rugs, and rub off the seats. I went to the Ford dealer and an upholstery shop in town trying to turn my gray interior black. They both told me I can't, and that they aren't like carpet or upholstery in a house. With the VUEs, I haven't had a problem cleaning the seats, but dirt stains the carpets like in a house.

I always vacuum first and then use a cleaner called Griot's Garage Interior cleaner. Just spray it on the area to be cleaned wait for a minute or two and wipe with a clean cloth. It's good stuff for every surface even leather. Give it a try, 10 dollars for 35 ounces.
