1997 Grand Prix GT information center lighting issue

hey all. this is gonna sound rather dumb but the center information (mpg, oil-life, range, fuelused) unit has an issue. it was flickering so i taped it and it just went out. now if i shine a light on it i can still read what it says, its as if the backlight has gone out. so i popped of the dash and it looks as if the display is fine, nothing cracked or majorly loose. im wondering if there is anything i can do to fix it. note: i kind of got ocd when it comes down to things running right and it is driving me insane, i broke down twice already because of a stupid display but i cant help it.

So you did not see a bulb that might be burned out?

My DIC did the same thing. The bulbs just twist out and new one twist back in. It took me about 20 minutes. I can't remember the dealer part number for the bulbs
