1997 Sebring Convertable -Electrical Issues
I just bought my daughter a 97 Sebring.
The door lock are going up and down when driving. The seat belt chime is constantly going off and on. The tach and odo work when they feel like it. I heard that this could be an alternator issue? Any help would be great. Thanks |

Re: 1997 Sebring Convertable -Electrical Issues
Have you had the body control module checked out by someone with an advance scanner, like a dealership? Doubt it's an alternator issue. I have also heard of instrument cluster wiring issues.

I have not had it into the dealership yet.
Do you know about how much a Body Control Unit costs? Thanks |

If the body control module is in fact the problem prices are all over the map. Of course the dealership will be the highest. Have someone check it out before you buy one though.

Re: 1997 Sebring Convertable -Electrical Issues
I have the exact same problems in my car. The door unlocking and locking, and the lights going on and off I was able to fix just by jamming the door jar sensor with some duct tape.
The issue with my tach and odo seems to be fixed with the engine heating up. I figure it needs to be soldered but I don't know how to do it. I also have a issue with the speedometer where it will fling up and down a lot, but kind of center near the speed I'm going. It doesn't happen when I turn the interior light knob all the way up. |

Re: 1997 Sebring Convertable -Electrical Issues
you need to remove your cluster board behind the speedo/tag and resolder the back side.
