MG roadster Kits

I've enjoyed lurking and looking round the old messages for a while, but havea question:

How do the various MG roadster Kits out there compare? I have the Airfix one... and well....... it was a bit offputting for a first car project I've also seen Aoshima in 1/24, and Revell in 1/32

Thanks,
Dug the n00b

The Aoshima kit is absolutely exquisite. The wire wheels on the early chrome bumper B are superb, as is the interior, while the rubber bumper B is the only kit I'm aware of that replicates the later B's.

There's also the metal kits from Finecraft, but those are incredibly difficult to assemble.

Thank you very much for your input!

I've got to say, the older MGs are my favorite, but I just got sort of fed up with the airfix kit. maybe once I'm better. UNtill then..... Aoshima it is!

Oookay, specifics of model year changes.

The split bumper was a 1970 ONLY option for MGB's. It's rare, and more commonly found on GT's than on regular B's. (Layla, my BGT, has a split bumper)

Aoshima only did those two MGB's, so that's that really for kit choice. Your best bet would be a bit of scratchbuilding and modifying to get the kit to replicate a newer than 1967 MGB. It's about the only way to go.
