Question No vacuum at the vent selector

My daughters 2000 Grand Am's 2.4l, vent selector is not working, right now all the vents are wide open. I took the control panel off and found that I wasn't getting any vacuum from the back of the knob, took the passenger underside and glove compartment off found the vacuum lines and wasn't getting any suction from there either. I have no idea where the vacuum should be coming from, I suspect either a bad hose or canister but I have been unable to locate it . If anyone has a diagram for the HVAC vacuum lines or has had this problem any help would be appreciated. Hope someone has the answer cause i really don't want to take the whole dashboard assembly off.

Thanks
Chris

Re: No vacuum at the vent selector

The emissions label in the engine compartment shows all vac lines....

Do you smoke? Disconnect vac line from control head and blow smoke backwards to find the leak...

Re: No vacuum at the vent selector

Thanks for the response, but yeah I been told that unfortunately it's no longer there. Someone out there has to have the Service manual Volume one (I have volume 2) which shows the HVAC vacuum diagram. Any help, pictures, drawings, crayon sketch something that will lead me in the right direction.

Thanks again.

Re: No vacuum at the vent selector

That would be great, the car was evidently repainted and what ever was there is gone.

Thanks

Did you look at the diagram and check the vacuum lines?

Re: No vacuum at the vent selector

I have a 2003 grand am gt 3.4 and last year i was not getting any heat when i turned the controls, come to find out my Air Vent Blend Door Actuator was bad. Was very easy to replace. Maybe just keep that in mind for the future
