Suzuki XL7

I was told by a dealer I took my 2008 Suzuki to ( to have a traction sensor replaced ) , that I should be using synthetic oil only because the timing chain will have problems before 100K miles with regular oil . And that the dealers will require proof of this or it will not honor the warranty . I'm sure this is a good thing for the engine any way , but has any one heard of this before ? I have not . I do have an extended warranty on it.
Also , that once synthetic oil is started , I can not go back to regular oil ., Is this true
Thanks
David

Re: Suzuki XL7

David, does your owners manual say you must use synthetic oil? I have heard of stories like this before with other brands of vehicles. Bottom line is do what the owners manual tells you to. There is no harm going back to regular oil after using synthetic.

Re: Suzuki XL7

I did read the manual and sure enough , it states to use 5w30 oil. Nothing about synthetic oil , so that is what I've been using and will continue to use . Thanks for the reply .
