Question Frankencar Intake Yes or No

I read a couple other threads on this website and that of the maxima.org and they have mixed reviews about the intake that is best for the max. I have decided to go with a hybrid intake because the specs of the enhancements are what I am looking for. Now all i need to know is if the frankencar is a good setup or if should goto a different brand. Also I was wondering from the current frankencar users if it is an easy install, if there any small parts i need to purchase that arent included, and what is the big difference between the K&N filter and the Apex one and if it is worth it to spend the extra money for the apex? Oh one last thing, I saw a couple cars that left the lower part of the airbox intact and put the intake above it, will this increase the airflow into the intake?

an intake is an intake.
you're talking the difference of 1 hp if that. it's not that big of a deal.
as long as it ain't the stock airbox it's not a big decision.

When I got my Frankencar intake (midpipe) I was happy with it. Had a nice roaring sound to it, and I felt the power. Not as much power as I feel on my Injen CAI right now. I never had Apexi finter so cant tell much about it, but I do have K&N filter in use, and I see the difference between regular filter from PepBoys (used before) and K&N filter (currently using). K&N is considered as one of the best filters on the whole market. Its upto you man. Hope this helps.

I'll make it simple: yes. Awesome intake. Good sound, nice power, improved gas mileage. Pretty cheap, too,

i went to the Frankencar meet up here in Mass a couple of weeks ago.. Stevie installed over 15 intakes that day including a G35 and a 2004 Maxima custom jobs.. every install that i saw sounded kick ass.. as far as performance don't ask me.. all the customers seemed satisfied with their purchase.. i myself, would keep my injen over the frankencar..but that's just a matter of preference.. i say go for what the little voice in your head tells you!

How many more times and ways do I have to say this, none of the aftermarket intakes are better than your Stock box if you do the GAB (Ghetto Airbox Mod), this was already dynoproven to get better HP and Torque and until someone can show me a dyno proving or disproving the results then I'll stick with the GAB mod.

Besides that it is free and gives a great sound when you mash on the throttle.

I'll try and post the pic with this reply and I hope it isn't too big, if so I will shrink the pic and try and repost it again.

yeah, but when the MAF fails, you can't throw the tock airbox back in, becuase you obviously fucked it up. if you don't care about warranty, go for the GAB. if you want peace of mind, get aftermarket

GAB was more than 7.2 hp it was about 11hp and to Thrasher, so far no one I know of has reported any MAF failures as a result of having the GAB but I have heard of plenty of MAF failing due to Stillen or whoever's Popchargers due to possibly too much oil on the filters a problem you really don't have to worry about if you're running a stock filter with your GAB.

still, if you ever have any problems with the drivetrain, don't even bother bringing it to the dealer, they'll just laugh at you and tell you to get a new intake before they even look at it

If you look at the picture all you're really doing is cutting a big rectangular hole in the top of the stockbox, yes this may void your warranty but it certainly hasn't had anyone running in to buy a new MAF.

Besides that you get more HP and torque, so I guess the trade off/risk of doing so is up to you besides I'm past my warranty already so it doesn't matter to me.

i've never tried frakencar but i've had 3 nissans in my life and i swear by weapon-R. they guaruntee(sp?) 7.2 hp@the wheels over stock. and the sound is awesome. go to www.weapon-r.com and do some searching they have a chart where they compare a shit old of intakes. the weapon-R dragon is better than all the other WAI's and better than 2 or 3 cold air's including place racing. it's an independant magazine that did the reviewing but the link is on the WR site.
