windows desktop question

I was wondering how to make the icon text background transparent in Windows98 SE. I know it can be done with Window Blinds, but I don't want a big bulky program running all the time. There's probably something in the Registry, but I haven't found it yet.

My advice to you is not to waste system resources on such foolish 'features'

I have 512MB of RAM (i guess today thats not much i've had it for the last two years. ok it wasnt that much even then for 3d work.. but whatever im happy) and i still strip down all kinds of these 'features' Search in google this issue there is always a solution on google I advise you to stay away from it :X

I know the program Tweak XP can do it with windows xp. It is not a bulky program simply edits the registery to allow it.

Not sure if the same developers made a version for 98 might be worth searching for..
