Engine Rebuild Basics
I'm rebuilding the engine of a 1975 chevy nova that has been sitting for the last 6 years. Do I have to bring it into the machine shop for work or is it possible to just rebuild it with new parts?
Thanks. |

Re: Engine Rebuild Basics
It depends on the condition. Sometimes you can get away with a quick hone and some new rings and bearings, but I'd suggest having the block, crank, and heads checked out by a competent shop. They will measure everything and tell you what needs done.

Re: Engine Rebuild Basics
try this book.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hpb-hp1029/overview/ It was originally written in the mid-70's or so, and is a goldmine of vintage small block Chevy info, (which is whats in your Nova), specifically written for the novice. |
