99 Cougar no A/C

Have a similar problem with 99 cougar v6. Clutch cycles 3/4 second on and off. Gage pressure varies between 65 and 55psi. I jumpered the lp switch and it made no difference. Could it be a faulty hp switch??(Btw- where is it?) or an electrical connection somewhere else in the circuit?

Re: Air Conditioner Compressor Cycling On and Off

what are your high pressure readings. if the condenser is dirty it will cause high pressure and shut system down. or if cooling fan is not kicking on keeping air flowing through condenser this will cause shut down

Re: 99 Cougar no A/C

A low charge also creates a short cycle of the compressor, if your high side pressuresa re too high it could be the orifice tube.
