08 impala cluster change

my 08 impala cluster screen is going in and out...i seen one today in our local pic apart in a 07 but have no idea what mileage is on it but it is cheap and will have 45 day warranty. im trying to go get it in the morning but i would like to know will i have to go get my mileage from old one programmed to the used one or will it show what my old one had when i install it? i do not want to add any more miles to my car and wha twill dealers charge for that service if needed?

Re: 08 impala cluster change

The IPC stores the mileage in it, so good chance the mileage from the used cluster will be shown. Dealer will probably charge anywhere from .5hrs to 1.0hrs to program the IPC. Personally I have only installed reman clusters which have the mileage programed into them when ordered. I do not think the dealer will be able to change the mileage on the used cluster.

Exclamation Re: 08 impala cluster change

I had an '05 Impala and had the cluster changed because the speedo motor went south.

The mileage was programmed into the new cluster before it was replaced. The supplier did it.
