Looking for tires for my 2000 SE 4x4

I'm looking for new tires for my 2k SE. I'm looking at Pirelli and Cooper. First, what do people think of these brands for AT tires? Also, I live in a wintery area (western NY) so I'm leaning towards the Pierelli Scorpian AS but I'm not sure if they make a size that will fit? If not, any suggestions on the Scorpian A/T vs S/T? I do mostly on-road driving in varied conditions (lots of snow), light offroad frequently (muddy dirt roads, etc) and occasionally some heavier off-road stuff.

The Pirelli A/T is a great compormise tire that performs well onroad and does well offroad too. If you want it for winter driving I might suggest having some extra siping put into it for ice traction (not too much though...lots of siped could cause problems) but otherwise I think it will serve your needs well. The S/T is more of a street tire and not really intended for offroad use. It would probably be OK for light duty though. I don't know anything about the Cooper.

If you are looking for a 31" tire I would probably recommend the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo over anything else. I've heard nothing but great things about them and will probably replace my Scorpions with them. Generally speaking you can probably expect less noise and fewer balancing problems with the Bridgestones than with just about any other A/T tire. Balance is the only problem I seem to consistently have with the Pirelli's (and I've had two sets)...the tire guy needs to get it dead on or they will shake. Perfectly balanced they are great driver's though.

I wonder if your lift contributes to that Chuck. I had Pirellis' before I was lifted and they never needed balancing.

A set of 31x10.50 Dunlop Radial Rover RT or BFG AT K/Os ought to be ideal for you. Both are Severe Snow rated (look for the mountain/snowflake symbol on the sidewall) for those nasty WNY winters and are excellent all-around for street and off-road use.

nah; The Discount monkeys couldn't get them right before the lift either. I don't know what the problem is? They were fine when I took them off on the last switch though so hopefully they still will be even though I had one of them replaced.
