What could have caused this damage?

We have a 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring convertible that was recently towed for an insurance claim. The vehicle was involved in an accident in which it spun around on the freeway and struck the median wall with the left-hand side of the front bumper.

The airbags deployed and cracked the windshield on the passenger's side, and the bumper was damaged, as well as the left headlight, tire, and the battery. The left wheel is no longer aligned and scrapes the wheel well when in motion. After being towed to an auction place and assessed, the insurance company stated that the damages to the vehicle exceeded what they believed the vehicle was currently worth, and deemed it a complete loss. In the end, it was decided we would opt to keep the car and do the repairs ourselves, and the insurance simply mailed a check to us for the assessed value. They towed the car back to us.

However, when the car was taken in for an alignment, the service was withheld because there is apparently damage to the rear ball joint, the lateral links, and the upper control and lateral arms.

The towing company caused additional damage to the bumper during the towing, but as the bumper needs to be replaced anyway we deemed that alright. However, was all of this damage to the rear suspension a result of the accident also, or was it caused by being hauled up by the front end and pulled 60 miles? Or could something else have happened to the vehicle during that time away that may have caused this?

sounds like the towing company may have improperly hooked the car when towing.
