03 ac problems

Replace compressor beginning of last summer and all worked well. Now if i start truck from cold start ac will work, but if i stop or turn off truck the ac will not work. I can go 5- 10 miles down road and ac will start working agian, anyone have any ideas? Compressor is not engaging during this time. I can jump across pressure switch and compressor will start. its an 03 gmc sonoma crew cab with 93000 plus miles with 4.3

Got reg or auot air controls?
Put the presure gauges on it and confirm a good charge.
The low side pressure switch should turn on compressor from 25-26 lbs on up.

It has reg controls. and has stopped working all together now. Ill take it and get it checked. Im short on time and tools to do it right. Thanks for the info.
