I don't know about a teg unit, but I know that you can use the PW setup from a sedan... 91EF3ZC (I think) has done it, and alot of us are waiting for a how-to or some information from him on this mod.
*hint* *hint*

Didn't any hatches come out with PS in the US? Our 4Gs came out with it standard - I might be able to surce the parts for people if you let me know what you need - only problem would be the switches as our cars are RHD

this thread is a little old not too bad, but i just wanted to tell dude that you can use integra power windows, and to get it out, well im assuming you unbolted the two bolts holding the glass to the metal unit thing, then you undue the 4 bolts that kind of form a square towards the left side, then there is one more bolt it is more directly in the center feel inside for one more arm of the metal unit still bolted to the door and that is the one. to get the unit out you have to finangle it out of the bottom hole, the fat end first. Once it is out, i drilled out the center bolt on the metal unit, i couldnt figure out how else to get it apart, because you have to use the bottom teeth and motor unit off the power window assembly of the teg and put it on your civic one, now you have to find a correct size bolt because you drilled out the other, if its not right it will not work (the pw) the bolt has to be right not loose, and i used 4 washers in between the teg teeth and the civics teeth because it leans in and causes the power windows to not work when it gets to the end of both sides of the teeth, now i have not finished this mod, i know it works but man is it a bitch oh and also i hope you have access to all the wires because good lord are there a shit load to use my boyfriend did most of that part i just braided the wires, also before you put the window on your new assembled civic/teg metal unit or even before you put it back in the door you should have all of your wiring done and have it working!!!!!!! very very important, but thats all i can think of, hope dude see this............

OKAY,
here you go, I know you have been waiting for this. I don't have pics but I will try to explaine the best I possibly can. Items I used:
The first thing you want to do after you have everything you need is remove your door panel. I will assume you all know how to do this. If you have a 90-91 you will need to remove the seat belt assy. as well. Remove the vaper barrier and save it, try to take it off in one piece. It is important to re-install it later. Once you have all the components off the door and out of your way, you want to remove the glass from the manual unit in the door. Lower the window with the window crank until you see the two 10mm bolts holding holding the glass. Remove the bolts while someone holds the glass in place, you don't want it to fall in and break, we need to use it again. once the bolts are removed and the glass is free of the track, you will remove the glass through the top of the door. be very carefull NOT to tweak the glass as you try to remove it or it will break. Now that the glass is removed we want to remove the manual unit from the door. there is 6 10mm bolts holding it in place. first crank the unit with the window crank to make it as flat as possible. Then remove all the 10mm bolts and bring the unit out through the bottom of the door. The power unit will go in this spot when it is re-installed. Two of the bolts will end up in a different set of holes. you will see this during the install of the power units. Now we need to compare the two units The first thing I did was compare the window units side by side. If you do this you will see they are the same except for the sliders. the 4D sliders are shorter than the hatch sliders. You will need to swap your hatch sliders onto the power 4D unit. The ends of the sliders are bent or crimped, to prevent them from comming off. Straighten the ends and remove them. do the same on both and put the longer sliders on the power units. re-grease as needed. you want to bend the ends of the sliders after you get them on as well. The Viper 530-T window module is important for safty. It will give you thermal shut down in case a hand of finger gets caught in the window as it closes. you also get benefits like, auto up/down one touch. it can be triggered with an alarm as well. I mounted the switches in the center console behind the shifter with a door lock switch as well. The switches all look the same, they are just black rocker switches. The hole in the door was plugged with a piece I had made at a machine shop. I used the plastic ring from the factory window crank, and had a metal disc made with a stud on the back of it. I put the disc on the ring and with the same size washer on the back, used an 8mm nut on the stud and secured it to the door panel. The discs were powder coated black to match. |
