EGR Valve Dissabled for 4+ years

Hi,

My girlfriends Saturn SL has had the faulty EGR valve bypassed since before I have become familiar with the car. During the last 6 months it has developed the symptoms of a faulty EGR valve and I checked it to see a rusty drill bit shoved into the vacuum hose. Following the replacement of the valve I was wondering if there is anything else that may have been damaged as a result of the vehicle running for so long without any recirculation.. Thanks.

If the egr was bypassed and ran fine for 4 years... are you sure the symptoms shes experiencing now are the egr?

Does it have an egr related code? Are the egr passages clear?
