Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
How would you compare this kit to the tamiya kit?

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
I feel that in almost every way the Aoshima is better then then Tamiya kit, minus the engine detail, and what I mean by better, its the little things that Aoshima has done.
You get LHD/RHD options , you get ride height options, stock or staggered options, in the 86 kits, you get decals to make it for EU/Japan/USA , I like that the side window trim is molded to the side window , makes it easier to paint, I also like that the the two skid plates that go over the gas tank on the chassis separate vs molded on the Tamiya, makes it easier to paint. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed build both the 86/BRZ kits from Tamiya, and they are great kits, but its just the little things that Aoshima did that makes theirs better IHMO |

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
Did some work on the wheels, painted them using Tamiya semi gloss black acrylic shot through the A/B
![]() Then took a q-tip , dip it in aclhoul , and rub off the black , and I was left with this ![]() started working on the interior ![]() and the body after a few coats of clear, this was before I did a wet sanding of 8000, and one more coat of clear ![]() I forgot to post the pics of the chassis, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
Nice work so far. And one more question. Does the tamiya version have a full engine? Because I know the aoshima version has a half engine. Thanks

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
Neither. Tamiya has a half an engine, but that lacks detail. The upcoming Aoshima has half an engine but has way more detail.

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
@Fabbri: If they'd cast full engine, it would cost a lot more just to cast them. Also Toyota/Subaru would charge more money for lisence fees. So You should be glad even for half an engine.

Re: Toyota GT 86 EU
I don't think Subaru charged half of the licensing fees to make only half an engine. They only made the parts that be more obviously seen in the engine bay. The bottom is covered by the skid plate so they didn't even bother. Sucks:/
