Wow it has been some time since I started a WIP thread. I'm trying to get back into the hobby and I started getting to work on this kit that I had stored for a while. All the progress you see I've done in the past 2 weeks or so. It's hard to say how fast progress will be made on this kit. I'm just taking my time with it and not rushing anything.
So for the body I decided to paint it a genuine Land Rover color, this is Oslo Blue. It's the blue on the Discovery models I &II 94-03 I believe. I have a D2 personally so I had a paint matched can from an online vendor made. If you guys are interested in getting matched paints for a color that you really like I highly recommend doing the same. You'll want a large can for future kits and they spray exceptionally well, like an airbrush.
So about 3 mist coats of blue, 2 wet coats, then 4 mist of TS-13, then about 5 wet coats. The body is only polished with meguiars scratch X and The Model Treatment Wax. I've always had an issue with burning through in the polishing process so I'm being careful.
Now for the engine, tranny, and driveline I decided to go with XF-16 Flat Aluminum under fairly decent pressure, 19-25 psi I'd say. With light coats it really does look great. One of my favorite paints by Tamiya. I then used a wash of ivory black oil paint and Turpenoid to highlight it all.
Up next is the interior. I'm waiting for the primer to cure. I'm planning to go with a mix of Testors Acrylics, Leather, Chrome Yellow, and Radome Tan.
Unfortunately I lost the hood to the body so I'll need a replacement for it. I'll also need to touch up an area on the side scoop where I missed painting it. There's a lot of wax I have to get out of the panel lines, but theres plenty of time for that. Thanks for looking.
