1983 Nissan Hardbody 4X4 pickup w/1986 Z24 engine

I have a 1983 Nissan Hardbody Pickup that i put a 1986 Z24 engine in. I had to rewire the Distributor to install the correct distributor with this engine. It cranks over real well, but has no spark. When i quit cranking the engine over it sparks once and tries to kick the engine back. I also have no power to the fuel pump. All fuses apear to be fine. Is this a faulty ignition module problem? Thanks for any help with this.

an easy way to test your fuel pump is to wire it directly to your battery, if it works, then its likely a wiring problem. I would also double and triple check your wiring on your ignition to make sure it was done correctly. Was the motor running ok previous to being pulled out and sold to you?

Yes, it ran fine. However, when the Distributor was installed the first time one of the wired leading to the dist. got hot. (the black wire). Repaired it.
