2003 pontiac grand prix gt.

the last couple of months my ignition key every few days will not come out of cyl. without gently turning car off and on , do I need to replace cyl. or get a new orig. key , I am using the original 10 year old key thanks. this is my first time here not sure how this works.

THough I'm not too sure what the italic mean (does that mean it blocks at one position and you cannot turn it ON or OFF....have you tried injecting some WD40 into the switch..?..

Doubt it's the key, if when you insert it, it easily rotates to crank position....if it doesn't, could be a tumbler problem....

If the problem is just removing the key by rotating from the on position to the off position, if the lock cylinder is in the column, could be a harness problem in the shifter....

Search the GP forI'm for "stuck key." Common problem for many years...not sure if applicable to 03. It's an electronic thing. There's a manual key release under the steering column. If that works when the key is stuck, then probably not an issue with key cylinder.
