Sending unit seal

I had to replace my fuel pump yesterday, i used the access panel in the trunk but i couldn't get the steel ring back on because the o-ring is so damn thick. Anyone have this problem? Can i just seal it with liquid gasket?

Re: Sending unit seal

just read some other threads on this same issue, seems that maybe putting vaseline on the rubber ring might help

Absolutely....petroleum jelly is very good......you should be able to depress the top of the fuel module so the ring just catches the retainers......brash drift and hammer get it there the rest of the way.....
