2003 Impala LS cruise light

I am having a couple of issues.
(1) Cruise light comes on and will flash on and off and without cruise being on or engaged. Sometimes it will just stay on and when either occur the cruise will not work! It is not doing this at all times but atleast once a day this occurs.
(2) The onboard fuel mileage computer doesnt work occasionally.

Did not know that Chevy made an LS in that year. You have the Impala base?
3.4? Check the wires going to the BCM and make sure none of them are loose. BCM is on the driver's side close to the steering wheel, under the dash. Sometimes located on the column. Depending what year you have.
Also check the wiring coming out of the column and make sure all connections are clean and tight. If you still have trouble try a re-program of the BCM. Connect a battery charger trickle charge or small amp charger to the battery observing correct polarity.
Put the car in sunlight to keep the auto headlights OFF.

Car in park and all accessories off.

Put the key in the ignition, turn on and off, remove the key from the switch.
Put the key back in and turn the ignition ON. DO NOT START THE CAR.
Leave the ignition ON for a period of 30 mins. The security light will go off.

Take the key out and replace. Start the car. You may have solved your problem. If not take to someone who can repair it . Dealers will want to sell you a 500.00 BCM.
