2000 Pontiac Bonneville won't start passkey 3

Hello, Someone tried to steal my car with no luck, but now when i turn my key the engine won't do anything and the security light stays on. Is there anything I can do myself. The dash was ripped off and the ignition switch was tampered with.

Don't you have car insurance? They obviously damaged the PassKey III components.....your insurance should pay for a tow to a GM garage, pay for a loaner, and also pay for the repair....

It's hard to know what they damaged from your description, but it's possible it was the exciter ring around the lock cylinder....security codes are probably set in the car....

Thanks alot!!! the car wasn't insured unfortunatly but yea the ring is missing from around the ingnition switch, so i guess i'm going to have to get it over to a gm dealer if that's the only option.
