53 Clio Starter Motor
I've had a guy bring a 53 Clio into me a couple of times, complaining to me that his starter motor keeps seizing up (his words) in the cold weather.
But whenever he brings it in it's fine and I'm a bit stumped. Any suggestions? |

Re: 53 Clio Starter Motor
Since it doesn't sound like you understand what he means by "seizes up" and I'm not sure what he's referring to either, have you probed him a bit more for a better description? Does it make just a single, solid clunk noise when he tries to start it? Does it make a rapid series of clicks? If he turns the lights on and tries to start the engine do the lights drastically dim or go out completely?
Have you checked the condition of the battery cables and connections? -Rod |

Re: 53 Clio Starter Motor
To be honest it's been difficult getting information out of the guy. Like I say, every time he brings it to me it obviously works so I'm just going off what he says. Will try to probe him some more though.
Yeh have checked the battery cables and connections, thanks. |

Re: 53 Clio Starter Motor
Understood. I'm no Renault expert, so I'm not aware of any common issues that might fit the symptoms. And if the guy is not able to be of much help or the car fails to cooperate, there's not a whole lot you can do.

Re: 53 Clio Starter Motor
Ok, cheers for your help.
I'm just going to wait til he brings it in when it won't start at all and then see if I can have a good look then. |
