Hiroboy ordering and payment process

Got a strange issue tonight while trying to place an order at Hiroboy for the new MFH McLaren F1.

First surprise, even though they mention a 10% discount for orders placed before the 20th of April, I get to pay full price.



I thought maybe this is just a glitch or something and decided to place teh order and clarify it later with them.

So went and ordered 1xMFH McLaren F1 kit and some detail parts and paint.

Then came the next hurdle.
Even though it says you can use PayPal, like usual:



it turns out I can not pay with PayPal unless I use my credit card through Paypal, even though I made sure that I had enough money on my PayPal account to cover this:





According to currency converter it is more then enough:



Any idea what is wrong? Any help is highly appreciated.
I tried all I could and I am about to give up and order from somewhere else even though Hiroboy was my first choice.

After some more useless tries I removed the McLaren GTR F1 from the order and I could pay with PayPal the other items, so it is the MFH kit that is the issue.
Have to look for another place to order it from.

There was a message on the Hiroboy site about having some problems with their e-mails because they are changing over systems. Maybe it's affected the ordering process as well..??

Hi Steve, maybe, who knows?!

To me it looks more like an issue related to pre-ordering the kit.
Maybe they want to charge only later when the kits arrive, not straight away when I place the order. Which would be great as long as one uses a credit card with ones PayPal account.
Due to ever increasing dangers of phishing and other cyber crime I prefer to transfer money from my bank account to my PayPal account and then Pay using PayPal, thus avoiding unnecessary risks related to possible issues with my PayPal account.

Long story short, I'll have to order some place else this kit,a pity as I was going to order also paints and other detail parts in order to keep shipping costs low.

I have my PayPal account linked to my bank account, so I just click to pay and the money is automatically transferred from my bank account to the person I'm paying. Saves having to keep manually transferring money across. Not sure weather you could do the same..?? It makes things a little easier, however I'm not sure it would solve the problem you are having at Hiroboy..??

You are right it wouldn't solve the issue as the payment procedure explicitly asks me to add a credit card to my account.
I will go with Hobby Easy for this order, maybe Hiroboy will change their payment policies in the future to allow all customers to pre-order easily.

Well, they have a message on their site saying that they have email problems, so I figured that maybe the community around here with all the experience they have might be able to give advice.

I just checked and I actually have a credit card added on my PayPal account too. It never gets used for payment though, it's probably just there as a backup. I would think that if it's a pre-order item then you would only be charged when the item ships, at least that's what most companies do..

It certainly looks like that.
I emailed Hiroboy as I am curious and would like to avoid losing a few hours on Friday evening next time I want to pre-order a kit from them.

Well, their email service seems to be dead for good.
My one week old email to Hiroboy is yet to get an answer of any kind.

However I decided not to bother with Hiroboy anymore.
A company which does not bother to answer their customer's emails within 2 weeks is a serious letdown.
Yes they have great stuff on their site but so have others and others also bother to reply to customer emails within reasonable delays.
