Paint booth, need some feedback
I drew up a quick mockup of a paint booth that I like to build
I plan on using 2 computer fans 120mm ones. I am not sure if they will even work, the fans are rated at 45CFM. my dimensions are 15x15 inch base. about 10 inch high. There will be hinges on all the pieces so it can be folded when I am not using it.

setup looks good, though seems to be a bit too small.

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
A. Computer fans not rated for flammables.
B. You need near 200CFM and a larger opening.

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
thx for the feedback. I am mainly using it for 2 pack clear. I still need fans rated for flameables?

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
If the computer fans are brushless, they will be fine. I've used them in the past for a paint booth with no issue.
Dimensionally you're cutting yourself shy, my booth is 24" wide x 18" tall and still can feel small when doing car bodies.

Hi !
Your set-up won't suck sprayed paint, 'cause it need a flap, and the funnel, leading to the fan. Here is my booth, installed fan is 90 cubic m/hour. Ruler is in decimetres. ![]() Hope that helps. |

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
Use an extractor fan kit for a shower. I built one, it has an induction motor and works perfectly. Whole kit cost less than 50 quid.

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
Read up, the bathroom fans aren't rated for explosion proof fumes. Most go with a bilge blower fan for boats, used to ventilate bilges, fuel vapors from the engine compartment, stuff like that.

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
Hi guys,
I have a quick question. What does CFM mean? Also are these fans any good for a spray booth. They are brushless: http://www.power-on.com/sunon-kd1209ptb1-3w3p-fan.html http://www.thermalfx.com/fans/120/KDE1212PMB2-6A.html How many do i need for a 60cm x 60cm booth? Best regards, Lesley |

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
I doubt it. The first one is direct current and small.
CFM means cubic feet per minute and is a measure of air flow. Higher numbers mean more air flow. A booth your size works best with 200 or so CFM.

Re: Paint booth, need some feedback
Quote:
The second fan link has 98,0 CFM, so if i install 3 or 4 of them with a potentiometer to control the suction. Would that be enough. Than i almost have 400 CFM. Best regards, Lesley |
