Attaching Cat Converter
Anybody know the torque specs for the catalytic converter attaching to the exhaust manifold flange. It has a ring that needs to be compressed into a channel. Thanks.

Re: Attaching Cat Converter
What year?..In my case (93) the "donut" that seals the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe (leaing to the cat) is pressed in place by the springs loaded on the retaining bolts, not by the bolt itself.
My manual says front exhaust pipe to manifold bolts 22 lb.ft

Re: Attaching Cat Converter
OK..from what i see in the rockauto catalog, the setup is different...with a braided link and a much thinner seal ring ...so...I do not know...either way the bolts are about same size so they can probably be torqued in similar range as stated above..

Re: Attaching Cat Converter
I put on a whole exhaust system. I did not use a torque wrench on those bolts. I basically gave it a pretty good snugging. Probably was around 20 ft-lbs. It turned out great.
