misfire on cyl 3 and 6
i had a guy put my 2000 GP 3.8L on the scanner and it showed a miss in cyl 6 and 3 which share the same coil pack, so I replaced it but it didnt fix the issure, any other ideas?

also it only runs rough at idle and when accelerating, its runs smooth on the highway, not sure if that means anything

I would have swapped the coil with one of the others- to see if misfire follows the coil---
Anyway- try swapping wires, then if no help, then have ignition module tested at one of the local chain stores Autozone etc.

where is the ignition module located? Is it common for them to cause a miss in 2 cylinders?

It could be plugs, wires, or ICM......the 3 coils are attached to the ICM.....just use a spark tester to test the output of the 3/6 coil......if no spark and the 3/6 coil is new and ok, then it's the ICM.......
What condition are the wires? Are they original? Plugs ever replaced with A/C Delco's? |
