Revell 1/24 Ferrari 599 GTO

It's been a while since I've posted anything new but here's my latest completed model. This is Revell's 599 GTO. I built mine similar to one I found pics of on the internet when searching for ideas for a color combination.

Painted in Tamiya Pure White with Hobby Design stripe decals. The mirrors are painted with Tamiya Bright Red as it was the best match to the decals.
Interior painted with a darker red from the Duplicolor Auto Paint line.

I added CF decals to the front splitter and rear diffuser. I chose not to CF the side lower sections because I was afraid it would make the car appear to sit too high. As it was I had to cut the wheel mounting pins off and relocate the wheels at a better position. I also replaced the mesh in all the openings with Tamiya mesh screen. Wheels painted gunmetal and cleared with TS-13.

Not perfect but I'm happy with the look overall.

Congratulations Eric made ​​a very nice model.
I like the combination of colors.
I'm starting work on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, and it'll do in a white suit.

Beautiful!!! That is so unusual but such a striking combination!! I normally don't like narrow stripes, but they look great on the 599.

As you maybe see, I work on the same kit, so your result is an inspiration from me.
You make a very good job with the Revell wheels and the color scheme is excellent.
A blame to revell's engineering is that the windows trim, is behind the side windows. .

My inspiration was from a real 599 GTO that I found pictures of on the internet while researching possible color schemes for the Ferrari. Where the owner of the real 599 got his (or her) inspiration, I have no idea.

gtziaf, the work you're doing on your build is awesome. It's way beyond the detail and effort I put in mine but I did borrow a couple ideas from you. I can't figure out why Revell did the side window trim the way they did but I'm glad the windows insert from the outside.

That's an excellent an unusual colour combination, I like it!
I think I still would have darkened / C/F'ed the lower sides as it might add even more realism. But great job anyway!
