Problems with Clutch
Hello,
I am having a problem with this 1998 A4. It is manual, and when you put it gear, it simply doesn't move. No matter how high your rev the engine. I then found out that without depressing the clutch, you can put it in any gear that you want. So it almost seems that the clutch is somehow magically depressed and remained stuck in that position. I can start the engine, put it in first gear, and take my foot off completely, and nothing happens. It is as if I am still depressing the clutch. Any ideas/suggestions as to what might be causing this? Thanks, |

Re: Problems with Clutch
First thought: siezed slave cylinder?

Re: Problems with Clutch
That is indeed likely. But would you still be able to freely go into different gears if the slave cylinder is seized?

Re: Problems with Clutch
Sure, if the clutch has the engine disengaged from the transmission. You could change a flat tire while running in 2nd gear!
