95 Probe Auto Trans Stall

I've been having issues lately with my probe, it has an automatic transmission and it stalls out when i stop occasionally or when in reverse. it only does it occasionally. i've read a few things that could be the issue. it is the middle of winter here so its very cold. i need to know if i should leave it be or replace the trans or replace the torch converter? And if its me and the way i'm driving causes it to stall?
