Exclamation Old Chevy Part

I believe this is a cigar lighter from an old Chevy.

Can anyone tell me which car it is actually from and what the lighter is made out of?

Some people say the plastic on top is Bakelite but I recently heard it is not.

Any help would be great!

Re: Old Chevy Part

It is possibly "Catalin" used most often for radios during the late 30's and through the 40's. some jewelry also made with this material. I think both are often confused for bakelite. I would guess an early forties car. Could probably rule out the war years 41 thru 45.
