not charging

hi everyone i have a 98 ram 5.9l that has a new battery and alternator and its still not charging ive checked fuses and their all fine all the grounds look fine but the thick wire coming from the alternator has a crack in the shielding about 2" from the alt where it bends, i dont know what else to check so is anyone else knows of something to try id appreciate the help, ive also read about people changing the voltage regulator but i have no idea where to look for that

Double check all your connections from the battery cables to the alternator to make sure they are clean and tight. Also you may want to pull the alternator and have it tested. I've seen several instances where the new alternator was bad straight out of the box. Just for informational purpose, the newer dodges dont have external regulators. They are built into the alternator.
