Project SVT Lightning-Now with pics!!!

Finally got around to buying my first car model. Its the 99 Ford SVT F-150 Lightning by Revell. Cant wait to start working on the engine.

Heres some of the engine I did last night (Does that work for everyone?)

Unless you plan on making it some "high performance vehicle that never had the time for a good coat of paint", flat colors for the exterior are a no-no; at least in my book.



Unless you have flat and gloss mixed? In which case gloss black will be very nice.

I'm going to pick up some gloss red tomorrow when I go to get some primer. What about doing the bed in flat black??

ok first off you picked a bad model for your first kit. fit problems.

Second NO FLAT COLOR FOR PRIMARY COLORS!

Third Inside of bed flat black.

Fourth Every lightning is red.

What about a glossy white for the primary color??? I've seen some at dealerships, but I think red would be better.

I just got done painting the block/tranny as well as the cyl heads and intake manifold. Wish my digi cam was charged up.

The reason why theres so much fuss around the forums about paint, about the plethora of wax and polish products, and about orange peel and other problems is probably because cars are supposed to be glossy... I think.

Not depending on model year, Lightnings can be:

White, black, silver, dark blue, red, electric blue, dark silver.

XspudX, paint the car any color that suits you, after all it is YOUR model and it is YOU building it, so do as you please, if you want to paint it flat black go ahead, if you think it'll look good do it.

yes u are right on that one but, i was reffering to the colors of the 99 model there was only 3 colors i thik not sure.

1999 year did not have blue. Only red, black, white.
