Brake Wire?

My wife just called and said CEL was on, so I had her run by Advance to have it checked and they told her it was showing the brake wire, the brakes and lights are working properly, so what are we talking about here? Brake switch maybe?

Re: Brake Wire?

What was the exact code that was pulled, and what model year is the LS or MKZ?

Re: Brake Wire?

According to the service manual, the following are potential causes of a P1572 code:

Misadjusted brake switches, BPP or BPA
Blown fuse
Damaged BPP switch
Damaged BPA switch
Open or short in BPP circuit
Open or short in BPA circuit
Damaged PCM. Obviously you hope it is not a damaged PCM. The code is triggered when the PCM does not see the proper sequence of the brake pedal input signal from both the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) and Brake Pressure Applied (BPA) when the brake pedal is pressed and released.
Hope this helps.
My kid goes to Lee University in Cleveland.

Re: Brake Wire?

So are there any symptoms I can look for that would point me in which direction I should go?

Just start at the top and work your way down with your trusty DVOM and a wiring diagram!
