97 gp se auto lights won't turn on?
yes, my interior dash lights and headlights won't turn on automatically, but will turn on manually?

THis is controlled by the DRL unit.
A possbility is with the ambient light sensor in top center of instrument panel. THis acts as a resistor, having high ohm value at night, low ohm value in daylight. If you can reach it, just disconnect: this simulates loss of ambient light. IF this makes the lights turn on, the problem is with the sensor. www.avigex.ca/xport/headlamps19940.pdf

..mmm..I realize I mixed up GP and TS forums with the reference I gave......but anyway, I think it applies mostly across Pontiac products....

I agree, as ambient light decreases, the sensor resistance in creases.....so disconnecting the sensor, creates an open circuit, or highest resistance , making the module think it is night time....
