Lexus LFA

This one (clearview body kit) was having a hard time being claimed for review, so I asked if it would be okay to show it in clear, and then painted red, a color I had loved on an LFA since seeing one in person. The answer was "yes", so there you go!

I built an LFA when it first came out http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1071685, pearl white w/red interior. I took that interior/chassis to pose w/this clearview body for a few photos. Once they were taken, I began the process of painting the body. It's painted Tamiya Mica Red over Mr. Surfacer 1000. There's a single layer of decanted, very thin transparent red, prior to the application of decanted U-Pol clear.

As I already knew, a great kit that's pretty sweet to put together. The included P/E is a nice touch. Now if Tamiya would kit the Enzo replacement...

Here it is w/the clearview body. It's kinda cool, in a slightly-cheesy gimmicky-sorta way..

Re: Lexus LFA

Pictures can't do the paint on this thing justice. You have to see it in person.
It is perfect and RIGHT.
It was when I saw this paint, I realized I wont use the 2k again, too thick.
This thing is shiny as heck and not too thick. Perfect.

Super Bob.

Re: Lexus LFA

Red suits this car very well and your paint job seems flawless. Nice!

Re: Lexus LFA

Never was a fan of clear view models. The plastic is too thick and looks weird. Maybe on F1s you can get away a little bit with all the detail underneath.

But the red is beautiful. Nice simple weathering and overall clean all around.
