no spark?
Hi, Im getting a 96 blazer from a buddy and he said it has no spark and thinks its the distributor. I have not checked out the engine yet so what should i look for? Its the 4.3 with over 200k miles. Im heading to the u_pull and want to know what i should grab. Thanks!

Re: no spark?
I wouldn't grab anything until I had time to look it over.

Re: no spark?
Well I wouldn't want to go to a junk yard and pull used electrical parts. You should pull other parts that you're going to need for the future. If you really have to get your parts this way go for it I guess but the no spark has to be confirmed it could be one simple wire that is cut or damaged.

Re: no spark?
I hear ya, but I lost 4 cars to flooding during sandy, Insurance has not paid out a cent yet and im unemployed, so unfortunatly have to go the cheap route this time.
I normaly would not buy a truck with this many miles but its $400 and unlike many cars here on Long island, it wasnt flooded. All I know is I was told it doesnt have spark.

Re: no spark?
No spark can be many things. It could be almost anything in the secondary Ignition Circuit, up to and including the Distributor itself. It could be something as simple as a bad Rotor under the Dist. Cap or a cracked Cap.
I am sorry to say that you're gonna have to roll the dice and see if you get lucky.
